Scapes

Details and heavy contrasts between thick black and extravagant color-schemes, and rigid lines and flowing paint, attempt to show how someone can still find freedom within the disciplined encasements of society or oppression, within themselves. I’ve developed an affiliation with the slightly contradictory mix of Impressionism and Nouveau Art, the result being a naivety of style and color-expressionism Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Neo-expressionist and Primitivist approach produced. Voicing emotion and state-of-mind through art is what I paint for.

Perspective and inherent truth.

like a child

I abandoned ‘academic’ approaches and rediscovered how “to paint like a child” (Pablo Picasso). For pieces like Amazing I depicted the things in our lives that free us by reverting us to the openness and unapologetic effervescence of youth, adopting the use of a raw medium and style. Though I do not often, nor explicitly, demonstrate my technical skills, I promise that, “believe it or not, I can actually draw” (Jean-Michel Basquiat).

From notebook 'schizzi,' to still-life, to drawings of imaginary places and characters and fascinations with color, light, nature, experience, and thoughts. Even literature and poetry.
